Sunflowers make a wonderful gift and with a little care, can look amazing for many days.
If you're thinking of sending a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers, why not also pass on some tips to help preserve their appearance for as long as possible.
Follow these 7 steps upon delivery of your sunflowers to keep them looking their best:
1. Remove any leaves that will be submerged below the water line.
2. Place the stems in a wide container or sink filled with water and cut 2 to 3 cm from each stem whilst submerged. The idea here is to not let the freshly cut stems dry out.
3. Find yourself a tall vase and fill with water. The vase should be tall enough to provide adequate support for the height of the flowers.
4. If your bouquet came with a conditioner, add it to the water. This will help nourish the flowers and keep them fresher for a longer period of time.
5. Place your flowers in the vase and arrange them in any way you like. It is a good idea to leave them in a dark room for a few hours after arranging. This helps to condition them.
6. Temperature can seriously affect the life-span of your flowers. Display them in a cool area, well away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
7. Remove aging leaves to keep your bouquet looking fresh.
